Before She Dies A Slaughter Creek Novel edition by Rita Herron Romance eBooks

I decided to listen to Dying to Tell (Slaughter Creek) and saw this prequel and wanted to read it first. While I saw it was only 42 pages, I assumed it was at least a short story with some kind of satisfactory conclusion. In fact, it's just backstory to Sadie and Amelia's family. It tells you about their parents and grandparents and hints at the possible cause for Amelia's condition. While it does end, it does not have an ending. If you're getting ready to read Dying to Tell, you can skip Before She Dies. I'd feel better about having spent the time to read this if the author had offered it up on her website for free instead of charging for it on Amazon.

I simply could not put down this story and read it all in one sitting! I was totally enthralled! The next story cannot come soon enough!!
This is a very short prequel to a new series coming in December.

Slaughter Creek, TN is where the battle between the Cherokees and the Creeks was fought. It was known as a town where you could live in peace and harmony. But something isn't right in the small town.

Norma and Ben Nettleton had decided to move to Slaughter Creek to raise there twin daughters she was pregnant with after Ben had a round of bad luck and had lost his job. They came to be near her parents who had moved there three years before and claimed the town was full of love and kindness.

Norma immediately went into premature labor as soon as she drove into town without Ben as he was coming a day later with there furniture.

Ben had been stressed out over the impending birth of his children for fear that one of them will have inherited a genetic disease from his side of the family like his sister had.

After the twins are born Sadie is a normal happy baby but Amelia screams and cries and nothing can console her. When the girls are two Norma decides to take Amelia in to be checked and realizes that she isnt the child in town showing these behaviors.

So what is really going on in this town? What will happen to Norma and Bill now that they have started asking questions? What is really wrong with Amelia?

The first book in the series comes out Dec 25th and will be Sadie's story. I'm hooked and cant wait to read.
This was an awesome prequel to the Slaughter Creek Series. Leaves you reeling in the end to know what is happening. Suspenseful as is all of Rita's stories. I can't wait to dive into the series and find out how it all comes together.
I really enjoyed reading this prequel, the story is set around a young family who because of circumstances have to move back to a small country town where the wifes family lives. They are expecting twin girls and things begin going wrong from the start, with early deliverey and then problems with one twin . The husband has a secret which causes a temporary breakup, the wife attempts to find what is wrong with one of the girls and a sinister plot partly gets revealed. Then things change as the husband reveals his secret and they try to find out what is happening to their child.
This is a short story prequel to the Slaughter Creek series. It is a suspenseful eerie story that has you hoping that somehow the protagonists will make it through unharmed -- with the certain sense that they won't. On the surface it is a simple story of a young couple about to have twins and the fears and the challenges they face. But danger lurks in the shadows and sinister elements crowd their way in. Compelling characters, hints of bad things to come made me eager to go out and grab the Slaughter Creek series. Hope it's published soon!
This is a short prequel to the Slaughter Creek series. We meet the parents of twins, Sadie & Amelia & have basically the set up to the main story that comes in the first book. I enjoyed this but it was very short & ends at a pivotal point. I was so surprised that it stopped where it did that I yelled at my . Just when this one gets good, it's over. The next book is supposed to pick up 25 years after events in this short with Sadie as our lead character, so I can only figure this cliff hanger (forgive the pun) remains such & is just finished off in flashback or something. It'll be a bit of a tough wait for the next installment. I'd recommend this if you are going right into the next in the series or if you don't mind a little frustration.
Even if you intend to read the other 2 books in the series, don't bother with this prequel. Anything you learn in it, you learn early on in "Dying to Tell", plus there is a glaring error as far as something that happens at the end of this prequel. In the next book, it mentions more than once that the twins are with their parents during their accident, which is not true in the prequel. I'm only halfway through "Dying to Tell" so I suppose it's possible the girls only THINK they were there, but I really don't see why their grandparents would tell them they were when they weren't.
