In all fairness, the introduction to this book gives excellent practical advise regarding travel in Italy and may well be worth the digital price for those 30 pages alone. Past that I would describe the books emphasis to be a kind of pricey, languid, materialistic form of tourism. She makes a small effort to talk about places to engage in outdoor activities, but the focus is clearly on where you can buy expensive designer label handbags, eat $100@ lunches (but oh so worth it!), and finish a day like this off with a a facial at your $300-400 a night five star hotel. You get the picture.Product details

Tuscany for the Shameless Hedonist 2017 Florence and Tuscany Travel Guide 2017 Now Featuring 4 Incredible Itineraries Ariela Bankier 9780996822244 Books Reviews
A different perspective for the 'beyond the norm' travelers who are looking for more unique things to do. Can't wait to check the locations out this summer!
Has some helpful travel tips and is an easy read. Had some cool and interesting suggestions, but I found the Rick Steves Guide to Florence and Tuscany much more helpful.
This looks like a great guidebook, however I returned it as I don't think I was the ideal audience for this book. We were traveling to Florence with our three children and we weren't renting a car. Much of what is suggested you need a car for and would probably be more enjoyable to experience without kids. Many of the Florence restaurant suggestions were covered in Rick Steve's book, so I ended up returning this. If we ever do get to return to Tuscany without kids and with a car, I'd be happy to buy this again.
Great supplement to other guides. We found some great cheese shops, winery recommendations, and cool places to check out from the book. All stuff that isn't in the typical guidebook, and all places that were the highlight of our trip!
Full of terrific information. I first bought it on -- but it's too difficult to navigate, so just get the print version. I don't love how it's organized and indexed -- but understand why it's the way it is. I just wish it had a full, alphabetized index, not one organized by subject. But lots of great tips for off the beaten track. The perfect antidote to Rick Steves!
Purchased several books for a 10 day trip to Tuscany. Found this book to be both the most exciting to read and built the most anticipation for the trip. It is organized by region and then by tip #. It is unlikely that you will be able to do most of the tips, but it does help you narrow things down between several choices. Intelligent read and thoughtful tips. One actual guidebook (found eyewitness to be the best this time - not always true for other travel. Rick Steves 2nd) and this book were best preparation. Enjoy!
I've been to Italy many times and to Tuscany more than other places and loved this book. The food parts for Florence, in particular, are its strongest selling point. We didn't find the shopping to be as on point as the food recommendations, and some of the shopping places just seemed overpriced for no apparent reason other than trying to separate tourists from their money, so we focused on eating instead -- which is really the best reason to go to Italy anyway! Buy the book and have a great time! Prego!
